Abstract:
In this globalization era, the fastness things are major needs of society since the people find the practical things for daily life, including for the food. Nowadays, the frozen food business has big opportunity to be developed since it have large market segment. That opportunity is used by Home Industry X which produces nugget. Since the sales of nugget increases in every month, it pushes Home Industry X to enlarge the production capacity. But in fact, it cannot be done yet because the production process Home Industry X is still done manually. It is caused low productivity in the production process. Tool is the importance aspect in the production process since it gives impact to the productivity. Home Industry X is still using the simple tools in the production processes, especially in cutting and bread crumbs coating process. By designing the tool for those two processes, the productivity can be improved. The methods that are used in designing the tools are quality function deployment and concept selection methods. After having concept that has been developed, the next step is prototyped the concept. The prototype is made in real dimension so it can be used and tested in the production process. Based on the testing process, the productivity can be calculated and compared with the current productivity. The improvement of productivity is 1367%. It proves that the developed tool can improve the productivity significantly.
