Children have always been targeted as victims of various forms of exploitation.
The exploitation of children often happens in many countries, without the
exception of Asian countries. Commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC)
is a phenomenon that has been occurred since long time ago. Child trafficking for
sexual purpose, child prostitution, child pornography, child sex tourism and child
early marriage are the forms of CSEC which also categorized as human rights
violations. These happen to thousands of children. Many of them involve in
commercial sex trade, particularly at tourist destinations that become scourge for
countries in which its highest national income from such industry. This certainly
becomes threat to the security of children in tourism areas. Indonesia as a country
where its international arrivals are quite high, it is also counted in the top three of
child sex tourist destinations. Therefore, Indonesia has performed several actions
and programs to combat child sex tourism that rampantly occurred in tourism
areas in the country. This study is an analysis on how Indonesia plays its roles as
primary security provider in combating child sex tourism in a period of time. |
