Abstract:
The increasing technology in the era of globalization has brought about opportunities for
people to commit crimes in that field. There are various types of crimes caused by the
impact of this era of globalization, such as fraud crimes that occurred in the practice of
buying and selling electronic Coldplay concert tickets in 2023. This research focuses on
consumer protection for ticket buyers and sanctions for perpetrators of electronic ticket
fraud for the Coldplay 2023 concert through proxy services. This study aims to determine
consumer protection for buyers of Coldplay electronic concert tickets through proxy
services and to determine sanctions for perpetrators of electronic ticket fraud in the
Coldplay concert case in Indonesia in 2023. The approach method in this study uses
normative methods. The results of this study conclude that buying electronic concert
tickets through proxy services is protected under Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning
Consumer Protection. Based on Article 4 of the Consumer Protection Law, consumers
have the right to compensation if the goods and/or services received do not comply with
the agreement or are not as they should be. Sanctions for perpetrators of Coldplay 2023
concert ticket fraud include criminal threats as regulated in Article 378 of the Criminal
Code and Article 28 Paragraph (1) of the ITE Law. The government is obliged to be
consistent with the Consumer Protection Law that has been enacted to maintain legal
stability, justice, and public trust, and to improve the Criminal Code and ITE Law
regulations to provide more specific sanctions related to electronic fraud.
