Abstract:
A gap in the temporary storage area for hazardous and toxic waste at PT X was discovered when observations were made. The results of this observation are compared with the applicable regulations, namely Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 6 of 2021. Several of these conditions give rise to issues, namely waste that is stored is not protected from rain and covered, the condition of the packaging is leaking, rusty and damaged, does not have first aid facilities, area of storage space does not comply with the amount of hazardous waste stored.
Things that need to be improved based on the impact assessment are increase the frequency of waste removal by vendor from 2 times a month for transportation to 4 times a month. To ensure waste transportation is on schedule, a new waste transportation SOP has been created. Adding a canopy to the front of the building and a concrete wall will be built on the back wall of the building to prevent rain from entering the building. Replace the drum made of iron due to safety against spills or leaks, non-flammability and ability to transport hazardous and toxic types of waste. And the last is that the first aid box will be installed in buildings using type A.
An improvement design that can be proposed to increase the storage of hazardous and toxic waste is on the roof of the building, namely a canopy will be added so that the front of the building is not exposed to rain. Meanwhile, a 1.7 meter high concrete wall will be built at the back of the building so that rain does not hit the back of the building. The building also designed facilities such as a first aid box, lighting and fire extinguisher.
