During the rainy season, Cikarang frequently floods, primarily as a result of clogged
drainage pipes with plastic garbage. In addition to causing flooding, plastic garbage that
builds up in rivers and drainage channels harms the ecology, becomes less readily available
clean water, and poses a health risk to the general public.By creating an Internet of Things
(IoT)-based Smart River Monitoring system that can automatically identify and manage
objects (trash) in rivers, this main project aims to alleviate Indonesia's serious environmental
challenges related to river trash.
With the help of its smart sensors, the device can instantly determine the kind,
quantity, and location of plastic garbage. Authorities can react to flood hazards swiftly and
efficiently thanks to this data. Furthermore, by lowering the necessity for direct human
intervention in the cleansing process, this technique increases effectiveness and lowers health
concerns. Better garbage management and the preservation of the river ecosystem are made
possible by the use of these IoT devices, which also gather environmental data that can be
studied for later policy planning.
By reducing the detrimental effects of plastic garbage on the environment and urban
infrastructure, this system's installation is anticipated to promote community involvement in
maintaining the river's cleanliness. The findings demonstrate the significant potential of IoT
technology in fostering a better and cleaner river environment and mitigating the negative
effects of plastic waste-induced flooding. |
