We can understand that sound in a film is one of the important aspects of the film, through sound
we can feel the mood and atmosphere of a film, this can also trigger empathy and sympathy for
the audience, in this overtime film there are many non-diegetic sounds that used to fill the storyline
in a film such as songs and music as background sound in a film fall into the non-diegetic category.
According to Bordwell et al (2016) non-diegetic sound is sound that comes from outside the world
of the story. For example, music is added to enhance the action of the film for the audience and is
not based on the characters. It is hoped that this research can help viewers and readers to absorb
the information and changes in situations contained in the film without needing to know verbally
that the character is in a state of anxiety so that they can empathize with the character. |
