| dc.description.abstract | TikTok, a widely popular platform among young people, serves as a space for political engagement and discourse. This research aims to find out the influence of social media TikTok use on the political participation of Generation Z during the 2024 Indonesian presidential election. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected through online questionnaires distributed to 385 respondents aged 17-27 across Indonesia using a purposive sampling technique. The analysis, conducted via simple linear regression, revealed that TikTok use accounts for 49.2% of the variance in political participation among Gen Z. This significant finding underscores the pivotal role of social media in shaping political engagement among younger demographics, indicating that nearly half of their political participation can be attributed to their interaction with political content on TikTok. The remaining 50.8% of the variance is influenced by other factors not covered in this study, which can be explored by future researchers. | en_US |
