THE ANALYSIS OF LEGALIZATION OF SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN CANADA AND ITS GLOBAL IMPLICATION 2005 – 2013

Abstract

Same-sex marriage in Canada who became a controversial issue in Canada that actually has undergone a long history that began in 1965 and continued to grow until 2013. The issue of same-sex marriage in Canada reached a peak when the Canadian government under the leadership of Paul Martin managed to enact same-sex marriage legislation. Legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada on Paul Martin's regime is not the one of a political euphoria in this country, but what Paul Martin's run has been through a series of discussions and considerations. This is the formulation of the problem of this research, which deals with what the factors behind the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada by Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2005 and what the impact of the policy legalization. The research design used in this study is qualitative. While technical analysis is descriptive, test comprehension test is Planned Behavior Theory I and II, while the data collection technique is secondary, which the authors collected data related to cases under investigation, either from books, newspapers or the internet. Then approach / theory used is the concept of policy, foreign policy-making theory and the theory of formal actor capabilities. Selected approaches because fundamentally able to answer the research problem formulation, namely the factors behind the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada by Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2005 and what the impact of the policy of legalization. The description of the controversial cases related to democracy, liberalism and Canadian foreign policy will be described in detail in this study.
