STUDENT EXCHANGE AS INDONESIA’S PUBLIC DIPLOMACY WITH DARMASISWA PROGRAM (2009-2014)

Abstract

Thesis Title: Student Exchange as Indonesia’s Public Diplomacy with DARMASISWA program (2009-2014) This research is attempted to explain about cultural diplomacy in order to enhance Indonesia image through the DARMASISWA (Indonesian Scholarship) program. DARMASISWA RI program is a strategy public space of cultural diplomacy to strengthen the image of the nation in the International society. In this thesis, the author analyzed the implementation of DARMASISWA program in Indonesia. This program aims in enhancing cultural diplomacy through educational to introduce culture in Indonesia to the younger generations as the next generations of the nations. This research is trying to explore the program of Indonesia culture diplomacy through the establishment of DARMASISWA (Indonesian Scholarship) as the result from the national discussion by Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The qualitative research is used to explain the reports, journals, books, and interview section. This research also showed that culture could play a role in improving the Indonesia soft power in the International society.
