Abstract:
The researcher picked this topic as President University has quite lot of Vietnamese International Students in the campus, and the researcher curious about the interest and motivation of Vietnamese Students pursuing their degree in Indonesia. The researcher using three independent variables (socio-economic, learning and prestige), and one dependent variable (students’ motivation). In this study, by using quantitative method, primary data was developed by researcher through questionnaire to 60 respondents. Using probability sampling method to determine the response of respondent of each variable. The Researcher’s research population is Vietnamese International Student who studied in President University. The sample are 60 and 75% of the respondents are male and the rest 25% are female. The research method being used is Multiple Regression and hypothesis (F-test and T-test) to analyze whether the independent variables (socio-economic, learning and prestige) have influences towards the dependent variable (students’ motivation) and researcher using SPSS 21.0 & Microsoft Office 2013 as the data process tools. Results calculated using SPSS can be seen that the Adjusted R square value of 0.781 obtained. The 78.1% means that motivation can be explained by the variable Socioeconomic, Learning and Prestige, while the rest is 21.9% of motivation is influenced by other variables which are not developed in this research (self-actualization and self-challenge).
From this research, the researcher can conclude that socio-economic, learning and prestige variables have significant influence towards Vietnamese international students’ motivation studying in President University.
