Abstract:
How to manage the inventory effectively and effeciently is a big challenge for most business organizations. The study took place at PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk., a factory of consumer goods. In PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk. face two invenoty problems , first is shortage and second overstock material. The factory wants to improve its effecincy and its considering a change in the inventory management. The purpose of the study is to investigate the reason behind the inventory management ineffeciency in PT. Unilever Indonesia and the proposed managerial suggestions. This study will try to analyze the operational activity witthin warehouse RMS NSD Factory in PT.Unilever Indonesia Tbk. including suppying cycle and the problems that occur in the warehouse and planning activity. Due the researcher is using qualitative approach for writing the skripsi, the most suitable method for requiring the data & information through observation, interview and documentation.The result of the finding, the researcher found out that the inventory problem in NSD Factory there is inbalance between supply and demand espesially in planning shcedulling due any missed when execution which is related & will be impact to the performance in production. Therefore, inventory management will play important role to solved of problem. Dicipline in consumption inventory and implementation warehouse management system will be helpfull in terms of keeping inventory level smooths and preventive to avoid the problem will be happened.
