Abstract:
Culture is a very general issue, it exists around us in every place; it influences our behavior, our thinking ways of our daily life. It had played a very important role in International Business. As what we can see, there are more and more Chinese companies come to Indonesia these years, they had spread their trade across their national boundary, at the same time, Chinese culture had been spread to Indonesia, it had also get influences from Indonesia culture. All of these can be treated as the globalization process in Indonesia market. Since people from different countries have so big cultural diversities, all of the cultural diversity dimensions can have effects on their working and business operations.
This research is focusing on PT.COSL INDO in Indonesia where there are at least three main reasons; firstly, most of its employees are local employees in Indonesia, management of culture can have direct result to their working positivity. Secondly, most of its clients are local companies, have a good acknowledge of culture is very essential for their business cooperation. Thirdly, I have done my internship in one Chinese Oilfield companies which is the study case in this research; it will make the research more convenient.
The theory build up this research is Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory. This theory has 5 dimensions, which are: Power/Distance (PD), Individualism (IDV), Masculinity (MAS), Uncertainty/Avoidance Index (UAI), and Long-term Orientation (LTO).
The researcher wants to know the dominant cultural dimensions which exist in Chinese Oilfield Companies during their globalization process in Indonesia. This research is using quantitative research with primary data, where the questionnaire has already tested by pilot testing.
Finally, there are 4 dominant Factors had been searched which refers to the degree of uncertainty and change avoidance, clearly attitudes for gender roles, preferring structure to unstructured and high level respect for individualism.
