Abstract:
The number of people who live alone and work a full-time job in a big city is growing so fast and usually, they need to wake up early in the morning to arrive at the office on time and go home late at night to avoid the traffic every single day. Because of this tight schedule, negligence sometimes happens, so much electricity is wasted just because some of the appliances are not turned off before leaving the house, and it causes the electricity bills to rise.
This is why this system is designed. Internet of Things is one of the most growing technologies that can change the way people live. When implemented in the Home area, it increases comfort and improves the quality of life at home. This system allows centralized control home appliances with Infrared Receiver. Although this technology is widely available in the local and international markets, it can cost millions of rupiah. Hence, not everyone can afford to buy the technology.
This system is expected to solve several problems, such as increasing comfort at home, controlling home appliance and monitoring temperature using an android application. Increased comfort and quality of life is achieved by using a microcontroller along with some of its sensor. Moreover, when combined with a WiFi module and MQTT Protocol database this system can be considered as an IoT based home controller. It can be controlled and also monitored with an Android application as long as there is an internet connection.
