Abstract:
PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company the daily activities in the manufacturing plant
require proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to minimize the risks,
makes it important for the company to manage the stock availability of the personal
protective equipment. Currently, there are four vendors that supplies the items, but
there is no proper ordering policy to purchase the items. The occurrence of shortage
of items is still relatively high, in the period of October 2018 – October 2019 alone,
there are 10 items that had shortage. The inventory management uses Microsoft
Excel to record the stock, but the inventory controller still has to check the items in
storage, which takes time. The objectives of the research are to propose a suitable
inventory model to control the stock and minimize shortage, and to design an
inventory data visualization to reduce the time taken to check items in storage. This
research collects the data of the current inventory management system, then
Economic Order Quantity and Joint Replenishment method are applied for the
proposed method of inventory management, and visual dashboard is designed for
the inventory management. The result of the research is that the Joint
Replenishment method is suitable to manage the inventory of personal protective
equipment, with annual total cost 84.82% lower than the initial cost.
