THE ROLE OF FAMILY COMMUNICATION IN SUPPORTING UNIVERSITY STUDENT’S SOCIAL INTERACTION IN AN ORGANIZATION

Abstract

Communication within the family is extremely important because it enables members to express their needs, wants, and concerns to each other. Open and honest communication creates an atmosphere that allows family members to express their differences as well as love and admiration for one another. As the importance of family communication is to create a harmony within the family, family communication is also playing an important role towards university student’s social interaction in an organization, in which the good or bad family communication will determine the social interactions skills of the university student, especially in their organization. This research presents a qualitative examination of The Role of Family Communication in Supporting University Student’s Social Interaction in an Organization. Using intrinsic case study with two subjects for this research, the first subject is come from a good family communication background and the second subject is from poor family communication background. The data for this research obtained directly by the researcher through in- depth interview and study documentation. The aim of this research is to see the outcome from these different family communication backgrounds, towards each subject of this research, especially in their (the university student) organization life. Further, the results show that the first subject who came from a good family communication has such a positive social interaction in her organization. As well as the second subject who has poor family communication, however, there were some struggle that the subject should face.
