SISTER CITY COOPERATION BETWEEN BANDUNG AND SEOUL GOVERNMENT AND ITS EFFECT TOWARDS TOURISM SECTOR IN BANDUNG IN 2016-2019

Abstract

Bandung and Seoul have signed a sister city partnership on May, 2016. Since then, many cooperation programs in urban economy, urban planning, urban transportation and e- government have been implemented. These programs bring a lot of benefit for Bandung, especially in Tourism sector. Many local and foreign tourists have visited Bandung to taste the wonder of it. Moreover, the events in sister city partnership program which includes the exchange of culture and information between both cities is also giving opportunity for Bandung in expanding its tourism promotion to Seoul. With that being said, this thesis would like to analyse to what extent does the sister city cooperation affects Bandung’s tourism sector. The result would then explain how much does the tourism sector in Bandung has grown since the establishment of the sister city partnership with Seoul. The method that is used in this study is qualitative research method. The finding of this thesis will discover on how the cooperation between Bandung and Seoul in sister city program affects the tourism sector of Bandung from 2016 until 2019.
