dc.description.abstract Climate Change is the most concerning environmental issue. In dealing with the risk of climate change, immediate and precise action is needed. It is absolutely involving all nation states in the world. In reducing greenhouse gas emissions, many countries have made various efforts to reduce emissions as a form of commitment in achieving the national emission reduction target. Japan as a developed country has decided to cooperate with Indonesia to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). Therefore, this study was conducted to explain how JCM could reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. Joint Crediting Mechanism is initiated by of the government of Japan in dealing with the issue of climate change by providing financial assistance and also facilitating the low carbon technology, systems, services and infrastructure to developing countries. Japan will obtain emission reduction credits as well as Indonesia and Japan also could promote their low carbon technology. The approach adopted by JCM is also accurate, has transparency, and hold up environment integrity. This cooperation is a form of Japanese Climate Diplomacy towards Indonesia and has developed various JCM projects in Indonesia. This study raised Energy Saving at the Convenience Store as an example of the JCM Project. The project shows the increase of energy efficiency. The results of this study shows how JCM could reduce the greenhouse gas emission. This study also shows the relation of Climate Diplomacy towards Japan cooperation to Indonesia. en_US
