Abstract:
In 2015 almost 68 percent or the majority of the quality river’s water in 33 Provinces in
Indonesia is at heavily polluted status. An urban observer, claimed that rivers in Jakarta
categorized as polluted. This condition caused by wastewater from industrial and also
wastewater from household around Jakarta. The government already issued policy on
countermeasure of river pollution. These policy is written on Peraturan Menteri Republik
Indonesia Nomor 5 Tahun 2014 tentang Baku Mutu Air Limbah. The water needs to meet
some criteria to be labelled as safe to return to the water cycle. With this problem, the author
would like to help by developing a device that can monitor four criteria; temperature, pH,
turbidity and volume. The measurement of this device uses microcontroller Arduino Mega
2560 as data logging and four sensors; temperature sensor, turbidity sensor, pH sensor and
water flow sensor. The measurement of these sensor need to be standardized before it can
be used in the real situation. At the end of the monitoring sample, the measurement data can
be used to categorized the output water from tertiary wastewater treatment. For the
measurement, the author uses direct sample from wastewater treatment of domestic company
in North Jakarta. Three out of four sensors work according to the expectation, in that case
this device still need a few developments such as all the sensors must be waterproof to be
placed near the tertiary wastewater treatment tank.
