Abstract:
The confidentiality of WhatsApp application user’s information had been a concern recently. However, WhatsApp is considered as a fast, easy and economical alternative form of communication and had so far been under-researched for its privacy. This study is carried out by the researcher to find out the impact of privacy issue on continuance intention to use WhatsApp application. The researcher used non-probability and purposive sampling, that filled by 106 invalid respondents and completely filled by 176 valid respondents who are WhatsApp users, 17-25 years old and domiciled in JABODETABEK area. Quantitative descriptive analysis is done by using modelling (PLS-SEM) on SmartPLS. Unlike the results found in previous researches, the findings from this research showed that perceived security does not significantly affect the continuance intention to use and perceived risk does not significantly affect trust in using WhatsApp. Hence, the findings of this research show that perceived security influence trust and trust influence continuance intention to use WhatsApp application.
