THE CULTURAL DIPLOMACY OF INDONESIA THROUGH “RUMAH BUDAYA INDONESIA” TO STRENGTHEN GERMANY-INDONESIA BILATERAL RELATIONS 2012-2018

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the implementation of cultural diplomacy by Indonesia to Germany through Rumah Budaya Indonesia in the 2012-2018 period. This study uses a qualitative method which descriptively explains the efforts of Rumah Budaya Indonesia which was established in Germany in implementing Indonesian cultural diplomacy there. Rumah Budaya Indonesia is used to promote Indonesia's cultural diversity through programs created and to enhance Indonesia's reputation and positive image in Germany. Researcher finds support from the government and the German people in the promotion of Indonesian culture in Germany. This can be seen from the development of the number of participants who always increase every year in following the programs and events held by Rumah Budaya Indonesia such as Sarasehan and Temu Sastra. Apart from being active in organizing various programs and events, Rumah Budaya Indonesia is also active in participating in local festivals held in Germany such as Lange Nacht and Fête de la Musique. Rumah Budaya Indonesia in Germany is used to strengthen and expand connections with the German people. Rumah Budaya Indonesia is a program of the Indonesian government, namely the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to build and improve relations between countries, in this case Indonesia and Germany.
