ILLUSTRATION BOOK DESIGN FOR INDONESIAN YOUNG ADULT TO PRESERVE GAYO COFFEE AS A HERITAGE OF GAYONESE ETHNIC GROUP IN ACEH

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to help young adult in Indonesia with the age range of 19-30 years old to maintain Gayo Coffee as a brilliant legacy of Gayonese who have been staying in middle part of Aceh since 11th century. This project is made because of the concern about the legacy of Gayo Coffee that needed to be preserved by today’s generation. Gayo Coffee is well known in Indonesia and abroad as a coffee with a distinctive taste. However, Gayo Coffee is more than a coffee which is containt so many strong tradition within. Unfortunately, sad fact in our young adult in Indonesia don’t know the real meaning of Gayo Coffee. They know Gayo Coffee just a delicious coffee from a highland of Aceh meanwhile there are so many things they need to know. So that, illustration book is needed to be the best media to introduce Gayo Coffee properly to the young adult with or without any electronical devices as now people are living in digital era. The research findings are illustration can increase the attractiveness of books. When the readers read illustration book, they will not only get an education but they also feel happy and enjoy when reading it. The research using the qualitative method through the interview, observation, study literature and brainstorming.
