REDESIGN STORAGE RACK TO REDUCE RETAINED SAMPLE SEARCHING TIME AT PT. AHP

Abstract

For most manufacturing companies, product quality and customer satisfaction is one of the key successes of a company. These companies are required to provide the best of their products compared to competitors to win customer satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, defects in products are a big problem that must be checked immediately, especially, at manufacturing companies such as PT. AHP. Inspections usually are carried out by the Quality Control Department within the company when there is a complaint from a customer. Retained sample of the product will be used as the basis of inspections located in retained sample storage. This study was conducted to find the problem, analyze and implement improvements, in order to reduce the searching time for the retained sample in the retained sample rack. Based on the existing problems, long time for searching retained sample can be overcome redesigning retained sample rack using House of Quality, changing the labeling of the retained sample to further prevent long searching time, to easier the searching method and matched the labeling to the rack design using colors. The results after implementing improvements are a reduction in the searching time for the retained sample in the retained sample storage rack, with the time required from over 6.2 minutes to approximately 1.8 minutes.
