Abstract:
The Colombian-FARC conflict represents one of the longest-running civil
wars in modern history. Rooted in entrenched socio-political issues such as
land inequality, economic marginalization and weak governance, the
conflict escalated over time and leaving a profound impact on Colombian
society. This study examines Norway’s crucial role as an official mediator in
the peace negotiations as a neutral third-party with extensive experience in
conflict resolution, highlights its active engagement in global peacebuilding
as a middle-power nation. Employing a qualitative research approach, this
study analyze how Norway facilitated dialogue and collaboration. Norway’s
strategies, undertaken alongside Cuba and other supporting countries,
underscore its ability to leverage middle-power diplomacy in successfully
achieving sustainable peace.
