Abstract:
Purpose - Games, especially digital online games in both device PC and mobile phone are in its peak of developing and growing. Along with that, the numbers of gamer is significantly increase, from every range of age and both man and women. Data in 2016 shows that 6 million citizens of Indonesia are active online gamers and 15 million of citizen of Indonesia are passive online gamers. Contradicting the growth of gamers, Indonesians intention to save is low compared to other countries in ASEAN. Considering this phenomena, this paper tries to investigate the factors that affects saving behaviour of online gamers.
Design/methodology/approach - 41 items instrument was distributed to online gamers in Jabodetabek. Demographic variables were age, gender, occupation, domicile and monthly income. Finally, the analysis was performed on 218 responses. The research is a quantitative research, using Structural Equation Model (SEM).
Findings– Research found financial literacy and financial attitude determinants to be significant in influencing saving behaviour of online gamers in Jabodetabek area.
Originality/value - Authors believe that this is the first study in Indonesia using this framework with online gamers as its object of study.
