INVENTORY PLANNING FOR IMPORTED PART OF IGM & IGM-SK IN PT MXX

Abstract

Supplies come from Local and Foreign Suppliers. Not to mention, the parts bought from the foreign suppliers may cause company into several problems, such as high cost in inventory; causing stock out caused by late arrival, and/or late order; and low safety stock in needed for keeping the production and development. Long lead time may reduce the ordering frequency and also reducing the ordering cost, but with the high increment on holding cost, high number of cost put the company in tight position. Yet, the company needs to make a big change in its inventory and its procurement; the company needs to increase the frequency of ordering; and high safety stock in needed for keeping the production and development. The initial observation is to identify the current forecasting method. Then the researcher initiates the comparison for searching the shortage. The shortage may be found from Order Quantity, Time, Safety Stock, Reorder, and Inventory Cost. The low number of forecast which is done by the company has risen the major problem which has the company met is happened in its stocks. The forecast result for taken is from period 10th (April 2018) to period 12th (June 2018). Based on the low percentage of MAPE from WMA (2), the researcher decides to use the forecast result of WMA (2) for the next calculation. As the example of calculation in total cost for Total Cost Comparison of KPGB April – June 2018, the uses of Continuous Review System produce lower cost price than Periodic Review System.
