Abstract:
As a leader in toy business, this company produces many toys in different
categories. The toy production process starts with several piloting stages. The
piloting stages are Engineering Pilot (EP), Final Engineering Pilot (FEP), and
Production Pilot (PP). All stages will be tested in mechanical laboratory under
quality assurance department. The observation will be focused in Production Pilot
(PP) stage due to the longest duration of testing. The company has set the lead time
of 4 days for PP stage, but the actual completion time was more than 4 days. As a
result, on April, 17 2017 the company should pay the penalty cost because of the
lateness. The total penalty cost IDR 9,817,350 and the total makespan is 2740.38
minutes. The objective of this research to find a job scheduling for testing flow in
PP stage by minimize the makespan and reduce the cost. The method used in this
research is the Non-Delay algorithm using parallel machine. From this research, it
can be concluded that the scheduling method by using Non-Delay algorithm for
parallel machine is more optimal than the current schedule. With this method, to
complete the whole jobs took 1812.73 minutes or decreasing 33.85% with total
penalty cost is IDR 0.
