dc.description.abstract Ambalat block which is geographically in border of Indonesia and Malaysia is rich in natural resources and has been disputed by both countries.The study aims to explain and analyze the dispute and the diplomatic effort by both states to resolve the disputed claim.The focus of analysis are the legal basis for Indonesia and Malaysia to make a claim over the ownership of the Ambalat block both using UNCLOS 1982.The method for this research is a qualitative analysis using history and juridical basis. The Finding of this study showed that the Ambalat Which in Malaysia is Indonesia’s claim under the provisions of the convention on the law of the sea 1982 because Indonesia is an Archipelago.Malaysia is Just an ordinary coastal state is justified only draw baselines of normal (regular) and the straight baselines if it meets the requirements. en_US
