Abstract:
Nigeria is one of the countries whose people suffer from polio, malaria, and HIV, which still become the leading cause of death in Nigeria (USAID, 2020). Since they got support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Nigeria has made significant progress in reaching its health goals, including eradicating wild polio from the country. This thesis aims to analyze the implementation of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Polio Emergency Operations Centers Programs in improving the health sector in Nigeria. By using the qualitative methodology through descriptive analysis, this thesis found that Bill and Melinda Gates use Global Health diplomacy to enhance Nigeria’s national health. These are including routine immunization, polio vaccination throughout all regions in Nigeria, intensive communication between Nigeria local citizens to the importance of polio vaccination for their children, and providing training for Nigerian medical health workers.
