Abstract:
South Korea is a country that use soft power to get its interests, especially in using public diplomacy. This is done by increasing Korean Wave such as dramas, film, and song. However, the three media are not enough to increase Korean Wave, so South Korea began to introduce their traditional food to people around the world by doing gastrodiplomacy. In doing gastrodiplomacy, South Korea has a hansik policy and also the Korean Cuisine to the World program. In the program there are five strategies to achieve the targets in the Korean Cuisine to the World program in 2017. One of the South Korean destinations in conducting gastrodiplomacy is Indonesia. This thesis thus describes the implementation that used by South Korea within the year of 2012 – 2017 in order to find out how South Korea implement its gastrodiplomacy towards Indonesia with the promotion of its traditional food as the tool of diplomacy. This thesis used Gastrodiplomacy and Soft Power theory. This thesis will provide the detailed actions of gastrodiplomacy implementation by the South Korea government through Korean Cuisine to The World Program.
