Abstract:
During the post-cold war, the study of international relations has
more to do with the military issues. Not to mention, the issues in
international relations changed due to the shift in the main actors
which was not only carried out by the state but also by non-state
organization. Recently, humanitarian issue become a concern in
international world. Starting from its humanitarian issue, European
Union is tightening its foreign policy in dealing with its issues,
particularly the refugees crisis. The EU emphasize to all member
states to open their border for asylum seekers which enter their
country. However, several member countries are tend to close their
border due to feared to be a national threat. Nevertheless, Germany
decide to welcome refugee, as a matter of fact, Germany under Angela
Merkel, implement the new policy which known as Open-Door Policy.
In accordance with European Union Political Guideline, Germany has
been implemented the open-door policy in line with the Common
European Asylum System that is legally binding by all EU member
state in 1999’s. Through this research study, the cooperation between
The EU and Germany in dealing with refugee through its policy would
be proven through neoliberal institutionalism theory. Further, the
motive of Angela Merkel still defending its new policy also would be
proven by national interest concept.
