Abstract:
Terrorism is an important issue for states to address. This was influenced greatly by the attack on the 11th September of 2001 to the World Trade Center, USA. Since then, the United States of America have played an active role in ad-dressing the issue of terrorism all over the world. Indonesia, as the largest Muslim population in the world was deemed as a potential target for the spread-ing of terrorist ideologies, and the United States was keen in developing coopera-tion between the two states prevent the spreading of terrorism ideology. This the-sis will analyze the implementation of the cooperation between the U.S and Indo-nesia, through the Anti-Terrorism Assistance program, specifically in countering the spread of Jamaah Islamiyah, This thesis will analyze the concept of security, bilateral cooperation, based on the perspective of realism. This research was conducted from November of 2016 until May of 2017, through the use of qualita-tive method of analysis. The writer uses sources such as books, news sources, journals, and also electronic sources as a reference to build this thesis.
