Abstract:
This thesis aims to explicitly discuss China's national interest in east China sea
territory by establishing the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). By focusing on how both China and Japan are dealing by using and extra judicial approaches to doing bilateral diplomacy to avoid the armed conflict situation and the possibility of increasing of high-tension situation, by explaining the efforts of both high Government authorities through crisis management mechanism in the period of 2013-2018. This research is using a qualitative data analysis which takes a collective data method from the primary and secondary sources such as journals and publications, books, and the state official press release. The theoretical framework that is used to analyze the case and as a tool guideline to explain further about the case is by using the theory of international cooperation and conflict resolution since the pressure point of this thesis is to explain how Japan and China engaged in the same disputes settlement mechanism to maintain the bilateral relations. The result of this research indicates China, by using the bilateral negotiations approach and involving Japan in the disputes settlement mechanism can achieve its interest to avoid the armed conflict situation with Japan in the region. This is indicated by the efforts from both Government and to make the betterment of the situation in the region.
