Abstract:
The rapid advancement of technology, particularly in mobile technology, has opened opportunities
to create innovative solutions beneficial to society, especially in addressing the issue of lost and
found items. This Capstone Project introduces “FIN.IT,” a mobile application designed to
efficiently manage lost and found item reports. This application features several tools to assist users
in handling lost item cases, including detailed report creation, geolocation integration for location
tracking, a chat system, and a rewards feature. The reporting feature allows users to easily create
detailed reports of lost or found items, complete with descriptions and images. It also includes
location functionality to provide specifics about where the item was lost or found, enabling other
users to identify the item easily. The geolocation system enables users to pinpoint the last known
location of the lost item and view reports within a certain proximity through the nearest activity
feature. The chat system facilitates direct communication between users, expediting the process of
returning lost items. Additionally, the rewards feature serves as a token of appreciation provided
by the application to users who successfully return lost items to their rightful owners. This Capstone
Project also involves testing and user reviews to evaluate the effectiveness and satisfaction of using
this application. The results indicate a positive response, showing that the application significantly
improves the process of returning lost items, reduces the time required to find lost items, and
enhances user satisfaction.
