Abstract:
Many targets had been reached by Indonesia to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 2015, but there are also some homework remain to be done to meet all the MDGs pillars. Aspect of limited government funding is seen to be an obstacle in achieving this. Therefore it is necessary to build synergy to implement development programs between the government and the private sector (private companies) that implement the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). MDGs and CSR have the same motives and goals relating to economic, social, and environment. Thus, this indicates that CSR can be harmonized with government programs to achieve the MDGs goals.
However, implementing CSR cannot be said as a simple matter since there are some things that can be drivers/barriers for companies to implement CSR, namely: shareholders as an internal company, community, institutional, and external environmental aspect. The community aspect has significant effect in this study. Because it is understood that mining company cannot be separated by the acceptance of community since it may be the important factor that can influence the progress of the company’s project. PT Adaro known as one of largest mining company in Indonesia, it also has responsibility to obey the government rules and regulation in terms of protecting social, culture, economic, health, and environmental aspect for communities that it might be destructed by their exploration and exploitation activities. For that reason, it shows that any synergy and it will cause the harmonization between government rules and the private sector in terms of supporting MDGs goals 2015.
