Abstract:
Panda diplomacy is a way for China to foster a positive image among the
international realm in forming bilateral relations with other countries. This thesis
uses Soft Power Theory which places China promoting pandas as a cultural symbol
to foster mutual understanding and strengthen diplomatic relations, one of which is
with Indonesia. Using qualitative methods, this research shows Indonesia's
acceptance of cultural diplomacy initiatives by looking at public responses along
with the involvement of local communities in Panda-related activities. The role of
pandas as a cultural bridge and diplomacy tool is considered effective, not only for
culture, but also to promote Indonesian conservation and tourism.
