Abstract:
Climate change is an unstable change of climate which influence the
global temperature and natural climate variability observed over comparable time
period. Climate change brings global impacts to the world. The biggest impact of
climate change goes to ocean. Coral Triangle ocean, an area which covers the
ocean of six Coral Triangle countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Solomon
Islands, Timor Leste, and Papua New Guinea) is also experienced the impacts of
climate change. By recalling the benefits given by Coral Triangle ocean for its
ecosystem and people, the environment on Coral Triangle ocean is important to be
protect from climate change impacts. The main goal of this research is to find out
the actions taken by Indonesia in order to support climate change adaptation on
Coral Triangle countries. The focus time of this research is on the year of 2009.
This research is a qualitative study and the sources of data are come from books,
government official websites, and government institution data. After analyzing,
the researcher find out that climate change impacts on Coral Triangle ocean is real
and threaten the future of its ecosystem and people on Coral Triangle countries.
As the respond to this issue, Indonesia took pro-active actions to support climate
change adaptation on Coral Triangle countries through the multilateral partnership
among Coral Triangle countries, called Coral Triangle Initiatives on Coral reefs,
Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF). The result of this partnership determine
climate change adaptation process on Coral Triangle countries.
