Abstract:
Climate change issue is no longer just a room discussion between the government and related institutions or scientists. It has affected human life in significant way. Moreover, climate change has impacts on human health, livelihood assets, food production and distribution, as well as purchasing power and market flows. In the face of climate change, Indonesia is a vulnerable country because of the agriculture-based livelihood system of the people, which is unfortunately threaten by food security threat. Indonesia faces direct risks of high level of crop failures, new kind of pests and diseases, lack of good seeds and planting materials as well as shortage of livestock. Therefore, there is a need of effort from the government in order to solve this kind of threat. Thus, Government of Indonesia (GOI) formulated National Action Plan Addressing Climate Change (NAP) in 2007 through Ministry of Environment in order to respond to food security threat caused by climate change that is shadowing Indonesian people. This thesis is significant in providing detailed information and analysis of Indonesia’s food security and climate status. Also, this thesis is significant in providing detailed information of the Government of Indonesia’s effort in responding to external threat such as food security threat caused by climate change. The result of this thesis will explain about how does the Government of Indonesia’s effort in tackling food security threat caused by climate change in 2009 – 2012.
