Abstract:
This study try to analyze the roles of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and its contributions on Heart of Borneo Initiative program that focus on promote green economic development and also understand the cooperation between WWF and three governments that involves in the program; Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia since 2007 until 2012. This study is substantial in deliver information about WWF global framework especially in forest management, trans-boundary conservation and green economy as a tool to promote sustainable development, also gives explanation about WWF cooperation among the three countries and other stakeholders. It takes the timeframe from 2007 until 2012 to give an overview of this partnership's development from the beginning until the current time. This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach and conducts library research;by analyzing reports and documents from WWF as the prime resources. In general, WWF has contributed by conduct research with expert partners to increase green economy in Heart of Borneo. The research produced green growth dimension as a basic model that can be used to maintain economic activity in the area. The research is used as a contribution for the governments to develop green economy policy and as a business recommendation for the business sectors to invest in Heart of Borneo. This shows WWF as a mediator between stakeholders within this program. Especially in developing green economy, by provide research and study, and also maintain both state actors and non-state actors to cooperate in order to establish green economy toward sustainable development in Heart of Borneo.
