Abstract:
PT X Indonesia is a multinational company engaged in manufacturing children's
toys, a subsidiary of X Inc. based in El Segundo, United States. PT X Indonesia is
a labor-intensive enterprise in which almost the entire production process is done
by using human labor. Cyclical production schedule up and down to make the
company requires additional manpower peaks future is to employ a workforce
with a specific time systems work agreement or contract worker that his tenure
has been adapted to the needs of production. However, based on employment
data in 2013 found a 2.5% rate of employee turnover caused by the discharge of
the employee before the contract expires in accordance with the agreements
signed. This is certainly very disturbing course of the production process and the
release of additional costs for the company to make the process of hiring a
replacement. Therefore, please note the factors that influence employees' desire
to get out of work or move to another company where the contract agreed work is
not over, including job stress, patterns of transformational leadership, job
characteristics, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. To examine the
relationship of these factors, factor analysis method was used (Factor Analysis).
Respondents in this study is the production operator with employment status as a
contract employee at the beginning of January 2014, amounting to 3525 people
by the number of samples taken 359 people. Results were analyzed using SPSS 20
and the results show that the factors of work stress, job characteristics and
organizational commitment does a positive and significant effect on turnover
intention while the factors of transformational leadership and job satisfaction
does not significantly influence the turnover intention.
