Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this research paper is to verify the influence of 5S method implementation inside the Physical Work Environment on employee perceived job performance through motivation as the mediator in Matahari Department Store, Mall Bale Kota.
Design/methodology/approach – Questionnaires were used with 22 items. The online questionnaires were distributed using random sampling approach to 175 employees from Matahari Department Store, Mall Bale Kota. However, there were only 116 qualified answers received. This study also used quantitative technique and structural equation modeling (SEM) data analysis.
Findings – From the analysis result, reveal that the independent variable (working environment/ 5S) are having a positive influenced towards the dependent variable (performance) by the mediating role of motivation.
Originality/value – Author believes this research about the influence of 5S method implementation in the Physical Work Environment on its impact on perceived job performance mediated by motivation was never been done for retail industry.
