Abstract:
The Republic of Korea (ROK) intended to introduce their country through food.
They began practicing gastrodiplomacy by promoting Korean food to foreign
countries under the Global Hansik campaign. ROK, through the Ministry of
Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA), established the Korean Food
Foundation (KFF) to actively introducing and promoting Korean food to the
international public. Among many countries, Republic of Indonesia (RI) is one of
the targeted countries to promote Korean food. This thesis thus describes the role
of KFF in promoting Korean food in RI during the year 2015 to 2017 in order to
understand how ROK through KFF practicing its gastrodiplomacy. This thesis
will use qualitative research method with books, journals, reports, and internet
sources and will analyze in detail the practice of gastrodiplomacy conducted by
ROK through KFF. This thesis concludes that in promoting Korean food in RI,
KFF has play several roles which are the role of event promotion, education, and
media promotion.
