Abstract:
The impact of the 2016 referendum on the decision of UK to withdraw its membership from the European Union have already felt from every aspects, but most significantly is the impact on the UK’s economy. Theresa May, as the Prime Minister elected after the previous referendum was held under David Cameron's leadership, is at risk of a post-referendum issue. But even after Brexit, UK still need to maintain a good relations with European Union. Therefore the proper strategy and planning is need to be carried out by Theresa May in order to address this issues. This research uses qualitative methods, so the data would be from the official statement of Theresa May from their speeches, books, journals, official reports, and official news. Using the theory of foreign policy analysis, which analyse domestic politics and international politics, the study will analyse events that influences the decision-making process within Foreign Economic Policy strategy that formed under Theresa May's leadership during her premiership from 2016 to 2019. Thus, this research will include an analysis of the foreign policy strategy under Theresa May's leadership in her efforts to maintain economic development towards European Union during the uncertainties of Brexit.
