Abstract:
Indonesia is one of the countries who is quite successful in attracting foreign visitors to visit its tourist destinations. This has caused a positive impact for both the government and business entrepreneurs. Tourism is one of the most important sources of income to Indonesia, as it has contributed as much as USD 10 billion in foreign exchange alone and 4% of national GDP during 2011-2014. The Government has committed to develop tourism across Indonesia under the Peraturan Menteri Pariwisata Republik Indonesia Nomor 29 Tahun 2015 and Peraturan Pemerintah Indonesia nomor 50 tahun 2011. Among so many foreign countries, Austrialia is one of the most important country that quite contributes to Indonesia’s tourism development. Australian visitors are quite attracted with beaches whereas Indonesia has lots of similar tourist destination places, with cheap accommodation and proximity of geography making Indonesia is becoming favorite destination to Australian Tourist. Therefore, the writer tries to analyze the government’s efforts to promoting tourism in Australia in the span of 2016-2018. The writer uses Qualitative research method, with Soft power and Cultural Diplomacy as the mains theoretical framework and the data coming from the government officials, government release and news either local or international news sites. Due to the fact that Australian tourists are attracted to many of Indonesia’s lot beaches, Indonesia’s Government has decided to maximize its efforts in promoting all of their local beaches to Australian tourists. Therefore the result of this research is to see the progress of Indonesia’s government in attracting the number of Australian tourists since 2016
