Abstract:
The maritime issue in the South China Sea has triggered sovereignty and concern for the relevant ASEAN countries. The Philippines and Vietnam have become the most exposed state in terms of China's sharp assertiveness. The two countries have carried out the most extensive and fastest military modernization. Both the Philippines and Vietnam have already involved in maritime conflicts with China which have led to the implementation of coercive maritime diplomacy in resolving each of their Maritime Issue. This thesis discusses how both Philippines and Vietnam carries out its coercive maritime diplomacy in resolving its maritime dispute with China. Philippines In The Case Of Scarborough Shoal 2012, and Vietnam In The Case Of China-Vietnam Oil Rig Standoff 2014. This thesis will explained the differences and the similarities between the two cases.
