Abstract:
Nowadays, tourism power has become a tool for development and change that
reach a wide range of social, cultural and economic goals of a country. This has
been well recognized by ASEAN since the establisment of ASEAN Tourism
Forum which aims to develop the regional tourism and promote it as a single
destination. Tourism cooperation is certainly a golden opportunity for Indonesia
that has abundant of natural resources. By using the perspective of Neoliberal
Institutionalism and Complex Interdependence, the writer analyzed the
contribution given by ASEAN Tourism Forum towards Indonesia within 2011 –
2015, as well as to see how well does Indonesia adopted the strategic plan from
the forum. This research used qualitative method which includes observation from
reliable sources such as official documents, books and academic journals. As a
result, the implementation of the strategic plan turns out to be very useful for
Indonesia in terms of promoting and setting out solutions as well as enhancing
Indonesia’s tourism growth. This progress is indicated by the rapid development
of Indonesia tourism during the implementation of the plan. Thus, this strategic
plan is considered successful and in accordance with what is needed for
Indonesia.
