Abstract:
The emergence of ISIS in the civil war of Iraq and Syria brought mayhem into the chaos. The United States along with its global coalition, took to the war against ISIS in August 2014, under the military strategy codenamed: Operation Inherent Resolve. The military strategy based on the U.S. defense policy has instigated controversies due to congressional debates, civilian death tolls and the war’s unproductive outcomes in Syria. Until today, the terror group is still ravaging around in the aforementioned states. This thesis aims to explain America’s military strategy against ISIS in Iraq and Syria as well as finding distinctive attributes in the implementation of the strategy.
