Abstract:
Based on the USTR report, Indonesia is included in the priority watch list along with other countries, including China, India, Algeria and several other countries. The implementation of the United States' priority watch list for Indonesia is due to indications of piracy of software originating from several US companies, as well as fashion products, jewelry, perfumes and other goods. It is estimated that due to this piracy, the United States suffers a loss of 210 million US Dollars per year. The relationship between the United States of America and the Republic of Indonesia has so far been reflecting the interdependency liberalism. The implementation of the 'priority watch list' is an evidence that the constellation of IPR protection in the world is still not running optimally due to the power of the United States of America carry out their need using the rule of law through an international agreement established through the World Trade Organization. The existence of the United States as a country with a fairly advanced economic order is not separated from the role of intellectual property rights. Indonesia has been caught in asymmetric interdependency with the United States of America and been working hard to be excluded from the priority watch list with the efforts of improving the IP protection in the country through law enforcement and educating the public, as well as political lobbying in the level of international.
