Abstract:
The utilization sustainable economic development concept has emerged in the global community. This concept represents critiques to the conventional consensus of economic development that only measure growth on country Gross Domestic Products (GDP) in which this concept only believes that real development will only happen if social welfare for everyone is accessible. In regards to that, this research explains on one of the country with biggest economy in south-east asia, Indonesia, which has constructed its national interests on sustainable economic development through what is called “Visi Indonesia 2045” that fortunately reflects on several policies reformation in 2018-2020 in which covers development on education, health, infrastructure, green economy, and equitable access through budget allocation maximization and capacity building activities. However, this research also explains that in the agenda of the constructed policies is not in the absence of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) contribution on facilitating the government of Indonesia with policy recommendation through what is called “Project 2045: The Path to Peaceful and Prosperous Indonesia in 2045” that aims to pave the right ways for Indonesia on achieving its national interest. The UNDP has enlarged its capacity on engaging the Government of Japan to fund the project and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) as the responsible partner to conduct the research activities. This research shows how the UNDP contributes to Indonesia sustainable economic development policy construction through Project 2045 using theory of Liberal Institutionalism, International Organization, The Concept of Sustainable Economic Development, and Theory of Change.
