Abstract:
Gastrodiplomacy is part of Public Diplomacy and Cultural Diplomacy, which is a subtle way to increase appreciation, build mutual understanding, and improve the image of the nation. In this thesis, the process of implementing gastrodiplomacy was carried out by Indonesia in the United States in 2017-2020 through Indonesian culinary, to support Indonesia's national interests. In this type of research, the methodology will be using the qualitative method. In this thesis, data collection techniques are carried out through internet research sources, journals, and also document articles. This Thesis will be using the theory of Public Diplomacy and concept of Gastrodiplomacy . The results of this thesis conducted that food can be a means for Public Diplomacy that helps Indonesia achieve national goals and can have a positive influence on Indonesia's image in the international world. Indonesian Gastrodiplomacy has been successfully developed with various government efforts in promoting Indonesian culinary through an annual festival that presents Indonesian cuisine in the United States. This event can help Indonesia achieve national interest in the U.S, such as the Indonesian Economy.
