Abstract:
This study explores the redesign of the President University Canteen by showcasing the rich local culture of Bekasi through the use of Tarawang batik motifs in the form of mural art. The aim of this effort is to create a unique visual identity and a more beautiful and comfortable atmosphere that reflects local wisdom. In addition, the redesign also emphasizes the use of ergonomic furniture that meets quality standards, thereby improving the comfort, safety, and efficiency of user activities. The approach applied in this study includes literature review, direct observation, user needs analysis, and the application of interior design concepts rooted in local culture and ergonomic principles. The results of the design show that the integration of Tarawang batik motifs in the murals not only adds aesthetic value but also serves as a means of cultural education for students and guests. In addition, the use of ergonomic furniture that meets good quality standards can create a healthy, functional cafeteria environment that supports social interaction. Thus, this design change is expected to be a solution in interior design that balances traditional values, modern functions, and user comfort. With a modern industrial concept, it brings a new look to the cafeteria with aesthetic values and uniqueness in every space and area.
